LOCKE LORD LLP: Locke Lord Chicago Partner Bilal Zaheer Elected to Board of ‎Directors of The Chicago Committee

Bilal Zaheer, a Partner in Locke Lord’s Chicago office and member of the Firm’s Business Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group, has been elected to the Board of Directors of The Chicago Committee. In this role, Zaheer will work with leaders at other large law firms to further the organization’s mission to promote the recruitment, hiring, retention and elevation of minority lawyers.

Zaheer, who joins Locke Lord Partner Ernesto Palomo on The Chicago Committee Board, has long been dedicated to furthering diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. He previously served as Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary of the Associate Board of The Chicago Committee and was selected for its inaugural, highly competitive “Rate My Pitch” program, winning an award for best presentation. Zaheer serves on the Board of the National Association of Muslim Lawyers. He has also served as Co-Chair of ‎the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Litigation Committee and‎ was named to its 2019 Best Lawyers Under 40 list. As a 2017 Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, Zaheer participated in conferences and projects aimed at increasing leadership and relationship skills for lawyers committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession.

An experienced trial lawyer, Zaheer focuses his practice in state and federal court as well as arbitration and mediation. He advises companies facing disputes arising from complex corporate and commercial transactions. Zaheer has represented clients in disputes around the country involving contract claims under the common law and Uniform Commercial Code, matters of corporate governance, director and officer liability, business and securities fraud and unfair competition claims.
