Partnership

Schiff Hardin LLP issued the following announcement on April 9.

Schiff Hardin LLP announced that Rick Frimmer has returned as counsel in the firm’s Restructuring Practice. Frimmer provides strategic financial and legal counsel in restructurings of municipal debt and corporate debt and equity. Over the past 35 years, he has represented nearly every high yield bond fund, all of the major corporate trustees, and many private hedge funds.

“We are thrilled to welcome back Rick to Schiff Hardin at a time when our clients need our counsel most,” said Andrew Kling, leader of the firm’s Finance Practice Group. “As a lawyer and financial advisor, Rick has the deep experience and credentials to develop solutions that will enable clients to achieve the best possible outcomes in these unprecedented times.”

Frimmer, who is also a CPA, represents bond funds and corporate trustees in matters relating to defaulted debt, with a focus on working with state and local governments to restructure municipal bonds. He also works with institutions including schools, hospitals, nursing homes, continuing care communities, and adult housing across the country. Frimmer represented the German government in the City of Detroit bankruptcy case.

“I couldn’t be happier to rejoin my colleagues at Schiff Hardin at this critical time for municipalities and institutions and their bondholders,” Frimmer said. “Schiff Hardin has talented lawyers in every area necessary to support clients in these difficult times, and because I know them well, we can immediately tap the right team to help clients meet their specific objectives.”

Frimmer returned to Schiff Hardin after spending four years at a national accounting firm, where he was a managing director in the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Group. Frimmer received his B.S., summa cum laude, at the University of Pennsylvania and earned his J.D., cum laude, at Harvard Law School. He is admitted to the bars in Illinois, California, and Pennsylvania. A member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, Frimmer is also affiliated with the American Bankruptcy Institute, Turnaround Management Association, and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
