HeplerBroom issued the following announcement on Aug. 4.
HeplerBroom attorney Rick Hammond has been appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to the newly formed Task Force on Court Operations During COVID-19. The task force was convened to recommend guidelines for reopening courts in Illinois, as well as to look at issues such as remote hearings, virtual trials, and logistics in the courthouse related to masks, social distancing, and other preventive measures. Hammond was chosen to represent the defense bar. Other members on the task force include judges, bar leaders, and court personnel from around the state.
Hammond, a partner in the firm’s Chicago office, focuses his practice on matters relating to property insurance coverage, fire and explosion cases, and bad faith. He also serves as an expert witness on insurer bad faith and as an adjunct Professor of Insurance Law at Loyola University Chicago Law School. In addition, he is a member of Loyola University Chicago’s Board of Trustees and is a Past President of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel.
