Freeborn & Peters issued the following announcement on Sept. 30.

Freeborn & Peters LLP is pleased to announce that Meghan E. Tepas, a Partner in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, is one of Law Bulletin Media’s 2020 40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty, which recognizes the “most talented young attorneys working in Illinois” under age 40. A Freeborn attorney has been included in the 40 Under Forty each of the last 21 years.

Publisher of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer magazine, Law Bulletin Media selected the 40 Under Forty from among more than 1,500 nominations. The honorees are chosen for their intelligence, passion, success in the office, desire to help their community, and willingness to work hard at their profession.

“We are extremely proud of Meghan, she is an outstanding attorney worthy of this 40 Under Forty recognition,” said Freeborn Co-Managing Partner William E. Russell. The passion and tenacity with which Meghan approaches litigation makes her a strong and valuable asset to our firm. We congratulate her on this well-deserved acknowledgment of her early career success.”

Freeborn clients agree. Andrew Maxwell of the Hastings Cutoff Group has stated, “Meghan has displayed exceptional talent in advancing her client’s interests while maintaining her compassionate approach and an understanding of human nature and how that impacts litigation.”

Meghan focuses her litigation practice on commercial contract disputes, breach of fiduciary duty claims, and employment matters, including defending employers against allegations of sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and employment discrimination. She also regularly counsels start-ups and small businesses with respect to vendor, customer, and employee contracts.

Meghan has been recognized by Leading Lawyers as an Emerging Lawyer in 2020 and 2018 and also received the Super Lawyers Rising Stars designation in 2019. She regularly writes on business litigation and employment law developments in the firm’s Quarterly Litigation Update, Powerhouse Points.

Meghan received her J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where she served as Executive Articles Editor for Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies, and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan.
