Cozen O’Connor issued the following announcement on May 10.

Cozen O’Connor has promoted attorneys Matthew Glavin and Matthew Policastro to members in the firm’s Chicago office.

Since joining Cozen O’Connor in 2019, Glavin, a member of the firm’s Public Strategies Group,  has helped drive the expansion of its Chicago-based government relations and public affairs practice, helping clients navigate the complex legislative and regulatory landscape in Illinois.

Working with Cozen O’Connor’s offices in Washington D.C., New York City, and Philadelphia, he has also led client efforts with their government affairs.  His clients are in industries such as sports and entertainment, gaming, healthcare, energy, utilities, and technology. Before joining Cozen O’Connor, Glavin served as the national director of government affairs for American Water, overseeing legislative and regulatory policy in 47 states for the largest privately owned water utility in the country.

As part of his pro-bono practice, Glavin lobbies on behalf of the Juvenile Justice Initiative. He formerly served as a board member for a number of Illinois-based organizations, including Equality Illinois, the state's largest LGBTQ organization; the Illinois Chamber of Commerce; and the Institute for Regulated Policy Studies and on the Board of Advisors for the Illinois Democratic County Chairs Association. A native of Park Ridge, Illinois, Glavin currently resides in Oak Park, Illinois. He earned his J.D. (cum laude, 2009) at Loyola University Chicago School of Law and his B.A. in Political Science (2001) at Illinois Wesleyan University.

Policastro, a member of Cozen O’Connor’s Subrogation & Recovery Group, is an experienced litigator who concentrates his practice on large property loss subrogation involving fires and explosions, water damage claims, construction defects and structural failures, and financial fraud and employee theft claims across the United States. Policastro has successfully tried cases to verdict in multiple jurisdictions and has significant experience in all phases of litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

Prior to joining Cozen O’Connor in 2019, he worked for an insurance litigation firm in Chicago where he primarily handled subrogation, insurance defense and commercial litigation matters.

Policastro is a native of Chicago’s Lincoln Park area, and a graduate of St. Patrick High School (2002). Policastro currently resides in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.  He earned his J.D. (2009) from City University of New York School of Law, where he was an associate editor of the New York City Law Review. He received his B.A. in history and philosophy from Fordham University (2006). He is an active member of the Fordham Alumni Chapter of Chicago.
