Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP issued the following announcement on Jan. 26.
Chicago Partner Blair Dawson recently passed the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) exam, adding to Lewis Brisbois’ growing roster of attorneys in its Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice with advanced cybersecurity credentials.
The global gold standard in privacy program management, the CIPM is an ANSI/ISO accredited program administered by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), focuses on creating a company security and privacy vision, structure a privacy team, develop and implement a privacy program framework, ensure compliance with local and international laws and regulations and measure performance. Ms. Dawson is now one of only 10,000 professionals worldwide that holds more than one IAPP certification.
“The IAPP credentialing process is challenging but a very worthwhile endeavor," said Ms. Dawson. "The knowledge and additional expertise gained through the course and exam preparation will undoubtedly benefit the representation of my clients,”
Ms. Dawson's practice is focused on assisting clients in responding to data security incidents while complying with state data breach notification requirements and federal regulations. She has decades of experience in the domestic and London insurance markets assessing the intricacies of coverage for clients, including maximizing coverage under cyber insurance policies as well as acting as claims monitoring counsel for clients. Last year, Ms. Dawson received the Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) credential and is preparing for the Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/US) exam. In addition, she is currently enrolled in the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Master of Science in Cybersecurity program.
