Meyers & Flowers Partner James A. McPhedran was recently appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court as a member of the Committee on Character and Fitness for the Third District. The Supreme Court of Illinois is the highest court in the state.

As a member of the Third Districts’ committee, Mr. McPhedran will help evaluate the moral character and general fitness of applicants to practice law in Illinois. Mr. McPhedran’s term on the committee will run through December 31, 2023.

“The Justices on the Illinois Supreme Court could not have picked a better person to serve on this extremely important committee. Jim has demonstrated the unique ability, for over 40 years, to represent his clients aggressively and passionately while always acting with the highest level of professionalism and respect for the practice of law. Our profession would be much better off if every lawyer had Jim’s character and moral compass,” said Trial Attorney Craig Brown.

Attorney James McPhedran is regarded as a dedicated and experienced advocate for his Central Illinois clients whose lives have been tragically altered by the negligence of others. Focusing his practice on personal injury, Mr. McPhedran has represented hundreds of clients in his relentless fight to hold insurance companies and corporations accountable in areas of medical malpractice, automobile and trucking accidents, workers’ compensation, and nursing home abuse. All alongside continuing to serve as the La Salle City Attorney having been appointed this position though three different administrations.

Mr. McPhedran became a partner at Meyers & Flowers in October 2019, after working side-by-side with renowned attorney Anthony Raccuglia. Over his more than three decades of serving Illinois Valley, Mr. McPhedran has resolved millions in settlements and verdicts, including serving as lead counsel on two Supreme Court of Illinois victories and setting precedent in several Appellate Court cases.
