Troutman Pepper Partners Avi Schick and Misha Tseytlin have been named to The 2023 Law Power 100, a list of the most influential legal professionals in New York politics and government compiled by City & State New York. Schick and Tseytlin are No. 11 on the list — the second law firm practitioners named.

The list features high-profile elected officials, powerful prosecutors, high-ranking appointees, partners at prominent firms, defense attorneys, public defenders, legal scholars, and others who advise or oversee governmental bodies, advocate for policy changes, or argue cases before the highest courts.

Schick, a former New York deputy attorney general, was recognized for his representation of private schools challenging New York State’s effort to regulate them. He also led the challenge to then-Gov. Cuomo’s imposition of pandemic mandates that heavily restricted the operation of houses of worship that resulted in a landmark victory at the United States Supreme Court. Schick regularly represents clients across industries before state and federal regulators, prosecutors, and enforcement agencies, and maintains a leading religious liberties practice in New York.

Tseytlin leads Troutman Pepper’s national Appellate + Supreme Court Practice Group and is recognized for his work in redistricting and election law. He argued and prevailed before the U.S. Supreme Court in Gill v. Whitford, one of the most significant redistricting cases in several decades, and in Murr v. Wisconsin, a high-stakes regulatory takings case. He has obtained multiple landmark victories for clients ranging from ordinary citizens to independent redistricting commissioners and state legislatures in state, federal appellate, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
