A man is suing McDonald's, claiming the fast food chain should pay after a security guard allegedly shoved him into a wall at a restaurant in Chicago.
The alleged incident occurred in October 2021 in a restaurant in the 1000 block of W Wilson Street in Chicago, according to the lawsuit by Robert Ruckauf.
The plaintiff "sustained severe and permanent injuries," the suit said.
He suffered "great pain and anguish, both in mind and body, and will in the future, continue to suffer. Plaintiff further expended and became liable for large sums of money for medical care and services while endeavoring to become healed and cured of said injuries," the suit alleges.
McDonald's failed to adequately train its employees on "diffusion tactics" to avoid violent encounters with customers, the lawsuit says. It also trained employees not to call law enforcement when facing violent encounters.
The company trained security staff "that it is acceptable to engage in violent encounters between its security staff and its patrons," the lawsuit says,
It also trained employees not to call law enforcement when the encounters occur, Ruckauf claims.
He is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, plus legal fees and court costs.
Ruckauf is represented by attorney Robert A. Langendorf, of Chicago.
