A female student at Hyde Park Academy High School has filed suit against Chicago Public Schools, claiming CPS should pay because teachers and administrators at the high school allegedly placed the student in a situation in which she was allegedly sexually assaulted by two male students and then ignored her when she attempted to report the assault.
Janet Doe, on behalf of her minor child, Jane Doe, filed suit against the Chicago Board of Education on Oct. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court.
Janet Doe claims Jane Doe was a student at Hyde Park Academy High School and was a sophomore at the school when two male students sexually assaulted her on Oct. 4.

Jane Doe was allegedly waiting for a hall pass at the direction of a school counselor, when she allegedly was directed to wait in the hallway for the pass, according to the suit.
While Jane Doe was waiting, two male students allegedly lured her to the third floor, which was unattended, and allegedly sexually assaulted her, according to the suit.
Janet Doe claims Jane Doe attempted to report the abuse and was told to go back to class.
The defendant disregarded Jane Doe's safety and caused her bodily harm, according to the suit
Janet Doe is seeking damages of at least $50,000.
