CHICAGO – A driver has filed a lawsuit against two other drivers, claiming that they opened their car doors into oncoming traffic, causing her to collide with them.

Plaintiff Maria Ramos filed the lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against defendants Ray Moore and Thomas Gista, citing allegations of negligence.

According to court documents, on Dec. 27, 2021, Ramos was driving southbound on Lake Park Avenue in Chicago when the defendants, who were exiting their parked vehicles, opened their car doors into the moving lane of traffic when it was unsafe to do so, causing Ramos to drive into them with her vehicle. Ramos claims that she was injured in the vehicle collision.

The complaint contends that the defendants were negligent in failing to exercise ordinary care.

Ramos is seeking damages for pain, suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of normal life, and damage to her vehicle, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented by attorney Anthony R. Elman of Elman Joseph Law Group, LLC, in Chicago.
