CHICAGO – A mother has filed a negligence lawsuit against a driver, claiming that she and her three children were injured in a car accident when the driver ran a red light at the intersection of 115th Street and South Wentworth in Chicago.

Plaintiff Darnisha Griffin, both individually and as the mother and next friend of her three children, who are minors, filed the lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against defendant Brooklyn Taylor, citing negligence.

According to court documents, Griffin claims that on November 15, 2021, she was driving with her children east on 115th Street in Chicago, and Brooklyn Taylor was driving south on South Wentworth when Taylor allegedly ran a red light and collided with Griffin's vehicle, causing serious injuries to Griffin and her children.

The complaint states that Taylor breached her duty to exercise ordinary care for the safety of others on the roadway and cites various forms of negligence, including failure to keep a safe lookout, apply brakes, yield the right of way, and stop for a red light.

Griffin is seeking damages for herself and her children in an amount in excess of $50,000 for medical expenses plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented by attorney Barry G. Doyle of The Law Offices of Barry G. Doyle, P.C. in Skokie.
