CHICAGO – A driver has filed a negligence lawsuit, claiming that she was severely injured by another driver in a rear-end collision in Oak Lawn.

Plaintiff Jackie Johnson-Sample filed the lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against defendant Kevin Mulerin, citing negligence.

According to court documents, Johnson-Sample claims that on December 3, 2021, she was driving eastward on 95th Street in Oak Lawn when she was suddenly struck from behind by Mulerin's vehicle.

The complaint states that Mulerin breached his duty to exercise ordinary care for the safety of others on the roadway and cites various forms of negligence, including operating his vehicle at an unreasonable speed, failing to keep a proper lookout, lacking proper brakes, not giving adequate warning, failing to stop when danger was imminent, and following the plaintiff's vehicle too closely.

As a result of the collision, Johnson-Sample claims to have sustained severe and permanent injuries, both internally and externally, that required hospitalization, and claims that she experienced shock to her nervous system.

Johnson-Sample is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for pain, suffering, discomfort, physical impairment, loss of normal life, lost wages, medical expenses, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented by attorney Mark L. Karno of Mark L. Karno & Associates, LLC and Donald W. Fohrman of Donald W. Fohrman & Associates, LTD in Chicago.
