CHICAGO – A driver and passenger have filed a lawsuit, claiming they were injured in a motor vehicle collision when another driver collided with their vehicle at the intersection of Stoney Island Avenue and Anthony Avenue in Chicago and fled from the scene.

Plaintiffs Tamika and Ervin Murry filed a lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against Denise Hughes, citing allegations of negligence.

According to court documents, the complaint involves a motor vehicle collision that occurred on December 9, 2021, at the intersection of Stoney Island Avenue and Anthony Avenue in Chicago. Murry was driving when Hughes allegedly attempted to drive across Stoney Island Avenue and collided with her vehicle. After the collision, Hughes allegedly failed to stop and fled the scene.

The complaint alleges that Hughes breached her duty to operate her vehicle safely and cites various forms of negligence, including operating her vehicle carelessly, driving at an excessive speed, failing to equip the vehicle with proper brakes, and failing to provide proper warning.

The plaintiffs claim that they were severely injured in the accident and are seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for pain, suffering, mental anguish and medical costs, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper.

The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Hameed Odunewu of Robert A. Langendorf, P.C., in Chicago.
