CHICAGO – A woman has filed an injury lawsuit, alleging that a driver suddenly turned into her while she was walking across the street at the intersection of South Longwood Street and West 103rd Street in Chicago.

Plaintiffs Gretchen Bernard and Alex Bernard filed a lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against defendant Dolores Dearborn, citing allegations of negligence.

According to court documents, the complaint relates to an incident that occurred on May 20, 2023, at the intersection of South Longwood Street and West 103rd Street in Chicago. The lawsuit alleges that Gretchen was walking in a marked crosswalk to cross 103rd Street when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Dearborn, who turned into the intersection.

Gretchen claims to have suffered physical injuries and damages as a result of the collision. She is seeking an award in excess of $50,000 for pain, suffering, mental anguish, medical costs, lost wages, loss of normal life, and other damages, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. In addition, Gretchen's spouse, Alex Bernard, has filed a claim in excess of $50,000 for damages for the loss of Gretchen's companionship, society, guidance, material services, and consortium.
