CHICAGO – A driver has filed a negligence lawsuit against another motorist claiming that he was injured following a rear-end collision in Des Plaines.
Plaintiff Terrance Delaney filed the lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against defendant Deep R. Patel, citing allegations of negligence.
According to court documents, the complaint relates to a traffic incident that occurred on Jan. 18, 2022, near the intersection of Golf Road and Easter River Road in the city of Des Plaines. Delaney claims that he was heading eastbound on Golf Road and had come to a stop because the vehicle in front of him had come to a stop when his vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Patel.
The complaint asserts that Patel failed to exercise reasonable care to ensure the safety of others and cites various acts of negligence, including failure to control his vehicle, failure to keep a proper lookout, failure to provide warning, failure to keep a safe distance, failure to decrease speed, and failure to properly keep his vehicle under control.
Delaney claims to have sustained serious injuries in the accident and is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for pain, suffering, loss of normal life, lost wages, and medical costs, plus interest, court costs and any other relief the court deems proper.
The plaintiff is represented by attorney Guy D. Geleerd, Jr. of Guy Delson Geleerd, Jr. Trial Lawyer, LLC in Chicago.
