CHICAGO – A passenger has filed a negligence lawsuit against her driver and another motorist, claiming that she was injured following a vehicle collision in Chicago.
Plaintiff Lanette Sanders filed the lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against defendants Papa Cisse and Markelle Williams, citing allegations of negligence.
According to court documents, the complaint relates to a traffic incident that occurred on Dec. 5, 2021, near 628 East. 75th Street in Chicago. The lawsuit claims that Cisse was driving and heading west on 75th St. Cisse allegedly tried to make a U-turn and truck a vehicle driven by Williams who was driving in the same direction. According to the complaint, Sanders was a passenger in Williams' vehicle.
The complaint accuses Cisse of failing to operate his vehicle in a safe and reasonable matter and cites various forms of negligence, including failure to yield right-of-way, failure to properly control his vehicle, failure to keep a proper lookout, failure to decrease speed, and attempting an unsafe U-turn.
Sanders accuses Williams of failing to exercises reasonable care to avoid injury, and lists various acts of negligence including failing to properly control his vehicle, failure to keep a proper lookout, failure to apply brakes to avoid a collision, failure to decrease speed, and driving at an excessive speed.
Sanders claims to have sustained serious injuries in the accident and is seeking damages in excess of $30,000 for pain, suffering, mental anguish, loss or normal life, loss of wages, and medical costs, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper.
