CHICAGO – An Illinois couple has filed a negligence lawsuit claiming they were severely injured when an Uber driver crashed into them from behind on Interstate 90 in Chicago.
According to a lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court, on Dec. 8, 2021, the plaintiffs, Daniel and Maureen Wynne, were traveling northbound on Interstate 90 in Chicago when they were suddenly rear-ended by the defendant, Joseph W. Williams. The lawsuit states that Williams was an Uber driver and was transporting a passenger at the time of the accident. The plaintiffs claim that they slowed their vehicle due to traffic conditions and that Williams, instead of slowing down, accelerated his vehicle, which caused him to strike their vehicle from behind with such force that the front end of Williams' vehicle ended up under the rear wheels of their vehicle.
Williams is accused of several acts of negligence, including failing to decrease his speed to avoid a collision, failing to maintain control of his automobile, failing to keep a proper lookout, driving at an excessive speed for prevailing conditions, and general negligence.
The plaintiffs claim to have sustained severe and permanent bodily injuries as a result of the accident. They are seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000 for pain, suffering, loss of normal life, and medical expenses, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper.
The plaintiffs are represented by attorneys Raymond M. Rudnick and Robert F. Krug, Jr. of Kelleher & Holland, LLC in North Barrington.
