CHICAGO – Two individuals have filed a lawsuit against a driver, claiming that they were injured in a rear-end collision on Harlem Avenue in Palos Heights.
According to a lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court, on Jan. 30, the plaintiffs, Mark A. Pulice Sr. and Helen M. Pulice, were traveling southbound on Harlem Avenue, near Ishnala Drive, in the City of Palos Heights when they were suddenly rear-ended by the defendant, Thaer M. Alsmadi, who was driving in the same direction.
Alsmadi is accused of various forms of negligence, including failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to provide proper warning, failing to see the plaintiffs' vehicle, failing to decrease speed accordingly, operating his vehicle at an excessive speed for the conditions, following too closely behind other vehicles, having inadequate brakes to slow his vehicle down effectively, and general carelessness.
The plaintiffs claim to have sustained severe and permanent internal and external injuries as a result of the accident. They are seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for pain, suffering, mental anguish, loss of normal life, loss of earnings, and medical costs, plus court costs, and any other relief the court deems proper.
