Driver faces injury lawsuit after backing into another vehicle in a parking lot on Halsted St. in Chicago

CHICAGO — A man has filed a negligence lawsuit, claiming that he was injured when a driver suddenly backed into his vehicle in a parking lot on Halsted St. in Chicago.

According to a complaint filed in Cook County Circuit Court, on Feb. 22, 2022, plaintiff Aubrey Jackson was a passenger in a motor vehicle owned by Kenyata Moore. Jackson claims that while the vehicle was parked at a parking lot located at 3010 S. Halsted St. in Chicago, defendant Kimberly Jefferies suddenly backed her vehicle into it.

Jeffries is accused of several acts of negligence, including improperly backing her vehicle into another motor vehicle, failing to decrease speed, driving at a speed greater than reasonable, failing to maintain proper control of her vehicle, failing to take evasive action to avoid a collision, failing to provide proper warning, and failing to yield the right of way.

Jackson claims to have sustained various injuries as a result of Jeffries' negligence and is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for pain, suffering, mental anguish, disability, disfigurement, and medical expenses, plus court costs.
