CHICAGO — A pedestrian has filed a lawsuit, claiming that he was seriously injured when a driver allegedly struck him with his vehicle while he was trying to cross the intersection of Milwaukee and Foster Avenues in Chicago.
According to a complaint filed with the Cook County Circuit Court, on Nov. 9, 2023, plaintiff Phillip Steinert Jr. was a pedestrian crossing southbound within the designated crosswalk area at the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Foster Avenue in Chicago when driver Mohamed F. El Shorbagy allegedly made a left-turn onto Foster Avenue to head west and struck Steinert with his vehicle, causing him serious injury.
Shorbagy is accused of various acts of negligence, including failure to exercise ordinary care while operating his vehicle, failure to properly control his vehicle, failure to stop before making a left-hand turn, failure to yield the right of way, failure to notice a pedestrian, making an unsafe left turn; and general carelessness.
Steinert claims to have sustained severe injuries as a result of Shorbagy's negligence. He is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for pain, suffering, mental anguish, loss of normal life, loss of earnings, and medical costs, plus court costs.
