CHICAGO — A driver faces a negligence lawsuit after allegedly running a red light at the intersection of Franklin and Washington Streets in Chicago and crashing into another driver.

According to court documents filed in Cook County Circuit Court, on Nov. 24, 2022, the plaintiff, Abdelmalek Madani, was driving northbound on Franklin Street near its intersection with Washington Street in Chicago when the defendant, Anthony Padilla, who was driving eastbound through the same intersection, allegedly ran a red light and collided with Madani's vehicle, causing him serious injury.

Padilla is accused of several acts of negligence, including disobeying traffic control instructions, driving at a speed higher than what was reasonable and proper for the conditions, failing to sound his horn when necessary, failing to decrease speed to avoid the collision, failing to keep a proper lookout, and failing to change course to avoid a collision.
