CHICAGO — A man has filed a lawsuit, claiming that he was injured in a vehicle collision after a driver ran a yield sign and crashed into him while he was crossing the street at the intersection of West Crystal St. and North Kedzie Ave. in Chicago.
According to a complaint filed in Cook County Circuit Court, on Sept. 30, 2022, plaintiff Ashton Pabon was riding his scooter in a crosswalk on West Crystal St. in Chicago near its intersection with North Kedzie Ave.. Pabon alleges that defendant Lori McDonald, who was traveling northbound on Kedzie Ave., failed to properly observe and obey a yield sign and drove her vehicle into the intersection, colliding with Pabon.
McDonald is accused of several acts of negligence, including failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in the crosswalk, failing to slow down for a yield sign, driving at a speed greater than reasonable, failing to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, failing to stop for a pedestrian, failing to properly control her vehicle, and general carelessness.
Pabon claims to have sustained severe temporary and permanent injuries both externally and internally as a result of this incident. He is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for pain, suffering, mental anguish, loss of normal life, and medical costs, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper.
The plaintiff is represented by attorneys George G. Argionis and James S. Betzelos of Argionis & Associates in Chicago.
