CHICAGO — A negligence lawsuit has been filed following a rear-end collision at the intersection of River Road and Cherry Avenue, which resulted in injuries.
According to a complaint filed in the Cook County Circuit Court, on Sept. 4, 2023, plaintiff, Vitallii Shevechenko, was driving southbound on River Road near the intersection with Cherry Avenue in the City of River Grove. Shevechenko's claims that they had come to a complete stop and remained stationary for a period before being struck from behind by defendant Timothy Chencinski's vehicle without warning.
Chencinski is accused of several acts of negligence, including failing to keep a proper lookout, operating his vehicle without proper brakes, failing to retain sufficient control over his vehicle, failing to operate a vehicle safely, driving at an unreasonable speed given the conditions, failing to provide an audible warning, and colliding with Shevechenko's vehicle.
Shevechenko claims to have sustained severe and permanent injuries as a result of the collision and is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for pain, suffering, disability, vehicle damage, loss of wages, loss of normal life, and medical expenses, plus court costs.
