CHICAGO — A negligence lawsuit has been filed following a vehicle spin-out on I-294 that resulted in a serious accident and injuries in Bremen County.

According to a complaint filed in Cook County Circuit Court, on February 2, 2022, plaintiff, Corzetta Coburn, was operating a motor vehicle on I-294 southbound in the center lane at or near Mile Post 7, within the Township of Bremen County. Coburn's claims that his vehicle spun into the far left lane ahead of a vehicle driven by defendant Shonnon Paschal, a driver acting within the scope of his employment with Maverick Transportation, LLC, and that Paschal crashed into his vehicle.

The complaint accuses Paschal of various acts of negligence, including carelessly operating and controlling their vehicle, failing to maintain sufficient lookout or decrease speed, exceeding reasonable speed for conditions, failing to equip their vehicle with adequate brakes, failing to give an audible warning with a horn, failing to slow or stop when a collision was imminent, and other acts of negligence.

Coburn claims to have sustained numerous injuries as a result of the collision and is seeking $50,000 in damages for pain, suffering, physical impairment, loss of current and future gains, loss of normal life, and medical expenses, plus court costs.

The plaintiff is represented by attorneys of Shuman Legal in Chicago.
