Driver sued for negligence following rear-end collision on South Stony Island Avenue

CHICAGO — A driver has filed a negligence lawsuit against another driver following a rear-end collision on South Stony Island Avenue in Chicago.

According to a complaint filed in Cook County Circuit Court, on February 17, 2022, plaintiff Thaddeus D. Hillman was driving his motor vehicle northbound near the 7400 block of South Stony Island Avenue in Chicago when defendant Marquise M. Martin, who was driving in the same direction, allegedly crashed into him from behind.

Martin is accused of several acts of negligence, including carelessly operating a motor vehicle without regard for others, operating a vehicle at a dangerous rate of speed, operating a vehicle without sufficient control, failing to stop the vehicle in time to avoid a collision, driving a vehicle without adequate brakes, driving too fast for conditions, failing to keep a proper lookout, and general negligence. 

Hillman claims to have sustained several injuries as a result of this incident.  He is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for pain, suffering, loss of gains, loss of normal life, and medical expenses, plus interest and court costs.
