CHICAGO — A driver is being sued for negligence after allegedly crashing into a Chicago Transit Authority bus at the intersection of Canal and Monroe Streets in Chicago.

According to a complaint filed in Cook County Circuit Court, on February 10, 2022, defendant Brian Ellis, a driver acting within the scope of his employment with Air Comfort, LLC, was driving northbound on Canal Street in the City of Chicago. The lawsuit claims that Curran attempted to make a right turn onto Monroe Street and struck a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) bus that was being driven by CTA employee Brian Ellis.

Curran is accused of several acts of negligence, including operating his motor vehicle at a speed greater than reasonable for the conditions, failing to yield the right of way, failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to stop his motor vehicle when a collision was imminent, disregarding a red traffic signal, and otherwise driving carelessly.

CTA is seeking damages in excess of $30,000 for the driver's pain, suffering, loss of normal wages, and medical expenses, plus damage to the company's vehicle and court costs.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Robert Morrissey.
