Benesch Partners Bryna Dahlin, Caitlin Kovacs and Nicole Wrigley Recognized Among Crain’s Chicago Notable Women in Law 2024

AmLaw 200 law firm Benesch is pleased to announce that Crain’s Chicago Business has selected Partners Bryan Dahlin, Caitlin Kovacs and Nicole Wrigley as 2024 Notable Women in Law honorees. The list recognizes women attorneys who serve as mentors and guiding lights for other women in their firms and bring their expertise to their communities and nonprofits outside the office.

For nearly a decade, she has advised companies in all sectors of the cannabis space including growers, manufacturers, distributors, dispensaries, investors and ancillary businesses. She also advises non-cannabis companies that are impacted by cannabis laws. Her clients are nationwide and range from new entrants in the space to publicly traded companies operating across dozens of states. Bryna’s career trajectory reflects her commitment to pursuing her professional aspirations regardless of the obstacles. When the cannabis industry was in its infancy, she left her position with a global law firm and co-founded the first cannabis law firm in Illinois before later bringing this practice to Benesch. Bryna serves as pro bono counsel to the Chicago chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML). She is a founding member of the Illinois Cannabis Bar Association and member of the International Cannabis Bar, National Cannabis Industry Associations and Illinois Women in Cannabis.Caitlin is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group and is an experienced complex commercial litigator who specializes in the most challenging and significant matters her clients face. She leads effective teams on bet-the-company cases in both state and federal courts involving disputes of all kinds, including breach of contract, fraud, business torts, defamation, white collar, products liability, restructuring, False Claims Act, antitrust and tax. Her clients span a wide range of industries and include Fortune 100 financial institutions, retail institutions, chemical companies and technology companies. An engaging speaker, Caitlin is often invited to instruct on a variety of legal issues. She teaches programs on ethics issues facing in-house counsel, deposition skills and women in the law.Nicole is a partner and vice chair of the Litigation and Trial Practice Group and has 20 years of experience litigating some of the largest and most high-profile cases in the country. She has represented plaintiffs in some of the largest defamation cases in U.S. history, the defendant in one of the largest auditor liability cases ever tried and Fortune 100 companies in multibillion-dollar securities fraud claims. Nicole’s clients have described her as “a creative and aggressive, but practical advocate” and as having “an outstanding work ethic.” She has been described by opposing counsel as having a “great presence in front of a jury.” Her unmatched experience in these “bet the company” cases led Benchmark Litigation to select Nicole as part of its “Under 40 Hot List” for Commercial Litigation in 2017.
