In the case of Barrows LLC versus Magellan Parcel C/D, LLC filed in the Appellate Court of Illinois, First Judicial District, with court case ID 1-23-0289 on March 29, 2024, Barrows LLC alleges breach of contract by Magellan Parcel C/D, LLC. The lawsuit is an appeal from the Circuit Court of Cook County presided over by Judge Mary Colleen Roberts. The plaintiff, Barrows LLC, represented by Andrew Oksner, alleges that Magellan failed to fulfill its obligations under an advisory services agreement. The defendant is a member of Parcel C LLC which developed a luxury high rise building in Chicago.

The dispute arose after Magellan allegedly failed to pay Barrows for services rendered under their agreement. This led to Barrows filing a breach of contract action in the circuit court of Cook County. However, the circuit court dismissed the complaint with prejudice under section 2-615 of the Code of Civil Procedure (Code) (735 ILCS 5/2-615 (West 2020)), leading to this appeal.

Barrows' amended complaint detailed their role in helping Magellan and Wanda Chicago Real Estate LLC develop a luxury high rise building on the Chicago Riverwalk. They claim that substantial time and resources were spent locating and negotiating with potential buyers for the project.

The plaintiff seeks affirmation from the appellate court that they performed under the contract and thus are entitled to compensation from Magellan Parcel C/D, LLC for breach of contract. The damages sought have not been specified.
