Amber Hines, the plaintiff, has filed an appeal against WSC-GSP CT Holdings VII, LLC, Able Engineering Management Co., LLC, GlenStar Asset Management, LLC, Crown Energy Services, Inc. d/b/a Able Engineering Services, Inc., and The Millard Group, Inc., a Corporation d/b/a Millard Maintenance in the Appellate Court of Illinois. The court case ID is 1-23-0986 and the hearing took place on March 28, 2024.

Hines alleges that she sustained injuries from a fall in a building stairwell on June 4, 2018. She claims that the defendants had actual or constructive notice of a dangerous condition. However, the trial court granted summary judgment in favor of the defendants as Hines failed to present any evidence showing when or if the stair strip at issue became loose or dangerous prior to her fall.

The defendants are associated with Continental Towers, an office complex in Rolling Meadows, Illinois where Hines worked for Ceannate Corporation. WSC was the owner of Continental Towers and GlenStar managed the property while Able provided engineering services and Millard provided janitorial services. Catherine Carlson was employed by GlenStar as the general manager and vice president for the Continental Towers complex from 2002 until 2021.

Hines is seeking justice for her alleged injuries due to negligence on part of the defendants. However, without substantial evidence pointing towards negligence or prior knowledge of unsafe conditions by any defendant party involved in maintaining Continental Towers' safety standards, her claim has been dismissed by the circuit court.
