The Appellate Court of Illinois, First District, heard a case (No. 1-23-0735) on March 25, 2024, involving plaintiff Olubunmi Owagboriaye and defendants Rajashree Sen and Atlas Realty Group. The case revolves around a personal injury lawsuit filed by Owagboriaye against the defendants due to an alleged fall on ice on their property.

In June 2022, Owagboriaye filed the lawsuit pro se, alleging she sustained injuries after falling on thick ice at a building managed by the defendants. The matter was arbitrated and an award favoring the defendants was granted in October 2022. However, Owagboriaye rejected this award but failed to complete the necessary paperwork correctly.

The plaintiff appealed from a trial court order that granted the defendants' motion to debar her arbitration award rejection and denied her motion to vacate the judgment award. She contended that she did her best in pursuing her case and asked for a reversal and remand for further proceedings.
