TOHO Co., Ltd. sues the individuals for copyright and trademark infringement

In the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, TOHO Co., Ltd. has filed a lawsuit against various individuals, corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and unincorporated associations identified in Schedule A. The case ID is 24-cv-2990 and it was filed on April 15, 2024.

The plaintiff, represented by its counsel, alleges that the defendants have been targeting consumers in the United States, including Illinois, through fully interactive commercial Internet stores. These stores are said to be selling products bearing counterfeit versions of TOHO's trademarks and copyrights. The defendants' actions have reportedly caused substantial injury to the plaintiff in the State of Illinois.

TOHO Co., Ltd. has initiated this action to combat online counterfeiters who are trading upon its reputation and goodwill by selling or offering for sale products connected with its GODZILLA trademarks and copyrights. These trademarks and copyrights are covered by numerous U.S. Trademark Registration Numbers and Copyright Registration Numbers.

The plaintiff seeks injunctive relief from the court due to irreparable damage through consumer confusion, dilution, and tarnishment of their valuable trademarks and copyrights as a result of defendants’ actions.
