In the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, plaintiff Mayce Aljazara has filed a lawsuit against Amazon.com Services LLC (Case No. 1:24-cv-03177) on April 19, 2024. The complaint alleges unlawful denial of religious and disability accommodations, retaliation, and violations of the Illinois Human Rights Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Aljazara has been employed at Amazon since May 2021. The dispute arose when Aljazara's request for a prayer room during Ramadan in 2022 was initially granted but later denied by HR Business Partner Amy Quiaoit, despite approval from HR Manager Cea Beasley and HR member Shalita Buckner.

The complaint further states that Aljazara filed a Charge of Discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on July 6, 2023. After an investigation process involving both parties, EEOC issued a Notice of Right to Sue on January 23, 2024.

The plaintiff is seeking judgment against Amazon.com Services LLC for violating her rights under state and federal laws. She is demanding a jury trial to resolve these allegations.
