Firoz Khan has filed a lawsuit against Air Canada and United Airlines, Inc. in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Case No. 24-cv-03622) on May 3, 2024. The plaintiff is represented by Rapoport Weisberg & Sims, P.C., and alleges that he was injured due to severe turbulence during an international flight.

Khan, a resident of Chicago, Illinois, had purchased a business-class ticket for a trip from Illinois to India on May 22, 2022. His journey involved two flights: United Flight 4706 from Chicago to Toronto and Air Canada Flight 42 from Toronto to Delhi. While aboard the Air Canada flight, Khan was using the lavatory when the aircraft encountered sudden and severe turbulence causing him to be violently thrown about and fall within the lavatory.

The plaintiff claims that this incident resulted in injuries that required immediate hospital treatment upon landing and ongoing medical care in Illinois. The complaint emphasizes that encountering such unexpected and severe turbulence is not usual or normal in aircraft operation.

Khan seeks judgment against both Air Canada and United Airlines for his injuries sustained during the flight. He demands compensation for his medical expenses and other damages related to the incident.
