In the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, plaintiff Arlandra King has filed a civil action (Case No. 1:24-cv-03488) against the United States Postal Service (USPS), Louis Dejoy in his individual capacity as Postmaster General, and Mridul Bhrel in his individual capacity as a USPS supervisor. The lawsuit was filed on April 30, 2024.

King alleges that Dejoy and Bhrel discriminated and racially profiled him, violating his civil rights under several U.S. codes including 42 U.S.C. 1983, 42 U.S.C. 1985, 42 U.S.C. 1986, and 42 U.S.C. 12102. He claims that they unlawfully conspired to discriminate against him. On January 13, 2022, King had a conversation with Bhrel regarding records of child support payments made through USPS which he alleges were intentionally incomplete when received after a ten-month wait.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for these alleged violations of his civil rights. He asserts that Dejoy and Bhrel knowingly violated his First and Fourteenth Amendments rights along with other laws mentioned above.
