In the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, plaintiff Tamika Williams has filed a lawsuit against the Illinois Department of Human Services. The case, bearing the ID 24-cv-3631, was filed on May 6, 2024. Williams is represented by Antonio L. Jeffrey of Jeffrey Law Office, LLC and is alleging race and sex discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Williams, an African-American female residing in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, was employed by the defendant in this district. She alleges that she experienced disparate treatment and harassment due to her race and sex after being promoted to Defendant’s Contracting and Administration Department. Her colleague Nick Masters, a white male who held a similar position in the Southern Region, did not face such treatment.

Williams had initially filed a Charge of Discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on June 9, 2021, followed by another charge on March 21, 2023. After receiving Notices of Right to Sue from the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division in February and May 2024 respectively for these charges, she proceeded with this lawsuit.

Williams seeks judgment under Title VII for race and sex discrimination as well as damages for harm caused during her employment with the defendant.
