Evelyn Recinos has filed a lawsuit against NuWave, LLC in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, under case number 1:24-cv-03910, on May 14, 2024. The lawsuit centers around injuries Recinos sustained from using a NuWave pressure cooker that allegedly malfunctioned.

According to the complaint, Recinos suffered first- and second-degree burns to both legs on June 12, 2023, when she was able to open the lid of the pressure cooker while it was still pressurized. The incident occurred despite NuWave's claims that their "Sure-Lock® Safety System" would prevent such accidents. The plaintiff is represented by attorneys from Johnson Becker, PLLC and Tomasik Kotin Kasserman LLC.

Recinos alleges that NuWave knowingly sold defective pressure cookers without adequate warnings or recalls, prioritizing profit over consumer safety. She claims significant bodily injuries, medical expenses, lost wages, physical pain, mental anguish, and diminished enjoyment of life as a result of the incident.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory and punitive damages for her injuries and associated costs. She also demands interest, attorney fees, and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.
