A Joliet resident has taken legal action against a major retail corporation following an injury at one of its stores. Kelly Millette filed a complaint in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on August 21, 2024, accusing Target Corporation of negligence leading to her injuries.

The lawsuit stems from an incident that occurred on August 21, 2022, at a Target store located at 2370 East Lincoln Highway in New Lenox, Illinois. According to the complaint, Millette was shopping in the pickle aisle when she slipped and fell due to an unnatural accumulation of liquid on the floor. The plaintiff alleges that Target Corporation, through its agents and employees, failed to maintain a safe environment by not properly managing and inspecting the premises.

Millette's attorney, Danielle A. Pinkston of Pinkston Law Group, P.C., detailed several points of negligence in the filing. These include allowing liquid to accumulate unsafely on the floor, failing to remove it adequately, not conducting necessary inspections, and neglecting to warn customers about the hazardous condition. The complaint states that Target "knew or should have known" about the dangerous situation but did not take appropriate actions to prevent harm.

As a result of her fall, Millette claims she sustained severe and permanent injuries that have hindered her daily activities and caused significant pain and suffering. She also anticipates future medical expenses as she continues to seek treatment for her injuries. The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages to be determined at trial, along with pre- and post-judgment interest and coverage for court costs.

The Case ID No. 1:24-cv-7569. Attorney Danielle A. Pinkston represents Kelly Millette in this matter.
