A class action lawsuit has accused Walgreens of allegedly selling bandages that contain PFAS without warning customers.
The plaintiff, Sara Sotelo, claims that Walgreens misrepresented and failed to disclose that its brand of bandages contains per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are known to pose significant health risks.
The lawsuit alleges that these chemicals, often referred to as "forever chemicals," can cause serious health issues such as cancer and liver diseases due to their persistence in the human body.
The plaintiff argues that Walgreens wrongly marketed the bandages as safe and beneficial for healing without revealing the presence of PFAS.
Sotelo seeks damages for breach of warranties, violation of consumer protection laws, and unjust enrichment.
The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Nickolas Hagman and others with the firms of Caferty Clobes Meriwether & Sprengel, of Chicago, and Lockridge Grindal Nauen, of Minneapolis.
