A class action lawsuit has accused eyewear maker Cartier of allegedly violating multiple laws in Illinois, California and other states by allegedly refusing to honor a warranty on its products beyond two years.

The lawsuit was filed against Richemont North America, Inc., doing business as Cartier, in Cook County Circuit Court.

The plaintiffs, Danielle DeCamp and Daniel J. Voelker, allege that Cartier has engaged in deceptive practices by refusing to honor its two-year warranty on discontinued products.

The lawsuit claims that Cartier offers only a 30% credit towards a new purchase instead of repairing or replacing defective items under warranty.

This alleged "Secret Policy" is said to breach consumer protection laws across multiple states including Illinois, California, and others where Cartier operates stores.

The plaintiffs seek compensatory damages, rescission, disgorgement of profits, statutory damages, punitive damages, attorneys' fees, interest, and costs.

Plaintiffs are represented by attorney Daniel J. Voelker, of the Voelker Litigation Group, of Chicago, and Randall B. Gold, of the firm of Fox & Fox, of Chicago.
