A class action lawsuit has accused Advance Auto Parts of allegedly improperly scanning the faces of workers in the company's delivery vehicles, allegedly in violation of Illinois' biometrics privacy law.

The lawsuit was filed against General Parts Distribution LLC, doing business as Advance Auto Parts, in Cook County Circuit Court by plaintiffs Alan Dralle and John Grana.

The suit alleges that the company violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) by improperly collecting and using biometric data from delivery drivers without their informed consent.

The complaint claims that the company used AI-powered cameras in its delivery vehicles to monitor drivers' facial geometry and other biometrics for performance tracking purposes.

The plaintiffs seek statutory damages of $1,000-$5,000 per violation on behalf of themselves and other similarly affected individuals, plus attorney fees.

The plaintiffs are represented by attorneys William Beaumont and Aaron Welo, of the firm of Beaumont LLC, of Chicago.
