A class action lawsuit has accused waste collection company Lakeshore Recycling of allegedly wrongly scanning its trash truck drivers' faces while they are on the job, allegedly in violation of Illinois' biometrics privacy law.

The lawsuit was filed against Lakeshore Recycling Systems LLC, alleging violations of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).

The plaintiff, Anthony Lamberson, claims that the company unlawfully collected and stored biometric data from its trash truck drivers using in-cab cameras without obtaining informed written consent.

The lawsuit asserts that this practice violates BIPA's requirements for notification and consent regarding biometric data collection.

Lamberson seeks statutory damages of $1,000-$5,000 per violation and injunctive relief on behalf of himself and other similarly affected drivers.

The plaintiffs are represented by attorneys William Beaumont and Aaron Welo, of the firm of Beaumont LLC, of Chicago.
