UB Greensfelder Attorney Steven S. Kaufman Inducted into Case Western Reserve University School of Law Society of Benchers

UB Greensfelder LLP is pleased to announce that Steven S. Kaufman has been inducted into the Case Western Reserve University School of Law Society of Benchers, the law school’s “hall of fame,” which honors the achievements of distinguished alumni, faculty, and prominent members of the legal community. Kaufman was voted for induction by his peers on the basis of his extraordinary achievement and dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession. He was formally inducted during a ceremony held on September 27, 2024.

“During his decades-long legal career, Steve has consistently earned recognition for his work as a litigator while giving much of his time to support the community and legal industry though numerous organizations,” said Patricia A. Shlonsky, UB Greensfelder’s Cleveland Partner-in-Charge. “We are pleased to see his well-deserved induction into the Society of Benchers.”

Kaufman represents clients in a wide range of high-stakes business litigation. With extensive experience as lead trial counsel in state and federal courts across the United States, he has consistently earned national recognition for his leadership and client service in matters of complex general commercial, real estate, eminent domain, employment, contract, professional liability, fiduciary duty, financial services, fraud, trade secret, intellectual property, civil rights, and class action litigation. Kaufman is recognized in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, and has been named to The Best Lawyers in America®, to the Ohio Super Lawyers list, and as a Litigation Star” in Ohio by Benchmark Litigation. Additionally, in 2023, he was recognized as a “Living Legacy Award” winner by the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and named to the Cleveland Jewish News list of "18 Difference Makers."

Kaufman has been highly involved in the legal industry and his community. He served as president and on the board of trustees of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and as an active member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio Metropolitan Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Foundation, the National Council of Bar Presidents, the New York State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association Foundation. Kaufman was twice elected to serve as president of the Shaker Heights School District board of education and served as its vice president as well as a member of the finance & audit committee. He also has been active with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cleveland, serving as a member of the board of trustees and as chair of the government relations committee. Currently, he is a member of the 50 Club of Cleveland.
