Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, a full-service national law firm with offices from coast to coast, is pleased to welcome partner Lina Powell to its litigation practice group in Chicago. Prior to joining the firm’s Midwest Commercial Litigation Team, Powell was a partner at the Chicago office of an international law firm.

“As an experienced and versatile litigator with extensive experience in all aspects of complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts, Lina is a welcomed addition to the Chicago office,” said office managing partner Scott McMillin. “With the increased need for litigators in the financial services, telecommunications, and technology industries, Lina’s experience will greatly strengthen our ability to service clients in those areas.”

Powell has a diverse background with emphasis on major contract disputes, breach of fiduciary duty claims, and putative class actions, as well as pre-litigation investigations and regulatory matters. She represents businesses across a multitude of industries including financial services, telecommunications, and technology while remaining active in firm leadership and committed to pro bono work. Powell received her law degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Law in 2012.

“I’m thrilled to join the Nelson Mullins Chicago office,” said Powell. “The firm’s collaborative spirit and commitment to excellence align with my values. I look forward to making a meaningful impact for our clients and working with this talented team as we continue to grow the Chicago office.”

Nelson Mullins opened its Chicago office in April 2023 with four attorneys. Since then, that number has climbed to 16.
