Jimmy Viverette | Village of Ford Heights

Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx has filed a lawsuit seeking to remove Ford Heights Village Trustee Jimmy Viverette from office due to his past criminal convictions.

Viverette, who was elected as a trustee on Ford Heights' village board in April 2023, has three felony convictions dating back to 2011 for drug possession and aggravated battery against a police officer, according to the court filing.

The lawsuit argues that under Illinois law, these convictions disqualify him from holding public office unless he receives a pardon or restoration of rights, which he has not.

The suit requests the court to issue an injunction preventing Viverette from continuing in his role as trustee.
