Fox Rothschild congratulates Gray I. Mateo-Harris, who was named to Crain’s Chicago Business’ Notable Latino Leaders list.

The feature highlights senior leaders who have demonstrated significant accomplishments within their industry, professional organizations and civic and community groups.Mateo-Harris, a partner and regional practice lead in Fox’s Labor & Employment Department, is a skilled litigator and counselor who manages a multimillion-dollar book of business. She represents employers in workplace litigation, handling labor relations disputes and providing strategic counsel on labor and employment law issues.Crain’s Chicago cited Mateo-Harris’ recent negotiation of a collective bargaining agreement for a charter school and her successful defense of a large retailer against a class and collective action lawsuit involving claims under the U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act and Florida common law.Mateo-Harris, who emigrated from the Dominican Republic with her family at age 7, is dedicated to the advancement and empowerment of women and people of color at Fox and in the broader legal community. Within the firm, she served as Chair of the Supplemental Mentorship Program for Diverse Attorneys and continues to serve as part of the firmwide Diversity and Associate Engagement Committees. Additionally, she serves as Co-Chair of the firmwide Restrictive Covenants and Trade Secrets practice group.

Mateo-Harris also serves on the board of several organizations, including:The Chicago Committee, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing minority attorneys (including Chairing its Nomination Committee).The Illinois Equal Justice Foundation, a nonprofit that funds civil legal aid programs including New Leaf Illinois (supporting expungement of cannabis convictions).The Coalition of Women's Initiatives in Law, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing together women who work with the government, law firms and companies (including Co-Chairing its Diversity and Inclusion Committee).Mateo-Harris is also a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association, the Hispanic Lawyers' Association of Illinois and the National Bar Association (Labor and Employment Section), the preeminent Black attorney bar association.
