A former employee has filed a lawsuit against her previous employer, alleging wrongful termination and retaliation after reporting workplace harassment. LaCortney Kimber initiated the legal action on December 12, 2024, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against Best Computer Systems, LLC, doing business as BestRx Pharmacy Software.
According to the complaint, Kimber was employed by BestRx Pharmacy Software starting January 2, 2024, until her alleged wrongful termination on March 29, 2024. Kimber claims that during her employment at the company's Oak Brook facility in Illinois, she was subjected to harassment by her supervisor, Eric LoPresti. The complaint details incidents where LoPresti allegedly laughed at and humiliated Kimber in front of other supervisors and set unrealistic performance expectations as a form of targeted harassment. On March 28, 2024, Kimber reported this behavior to Hemal Desai, the President of BestRx Pharmacy Software. The following day, she was terminated from her position.
Kimber's lawsuit asserts that her termination was an act of retaliation for reporting harassment—a protected activity under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The complaint accuses BestRx Pharmacy Software of creating a hostile work environment and retaliating against Kimber for exercising her rights under federal law. It further alleges that the company’s actions were motivated solely by her report of illegal conduct by her supervisor.
The plaintiff seeks various forms of relief from the court. She requests a declaration that BestRx violated Title VII and demands injunctive relief to prevent further violations by the defendant. Additionally, Kimber is seeking back pay, front pay, wages lost due to termination, reinstatement to her former position or equivalent compensation if reinstatement is not feasible. She also seeks compensatory damages for emotional distress and damage to reputation caused by the unlawful acts she experienced. Furthermore, Kimber requests pre-judgment and post-judgment interest on any awarded sums and reimbursement for attorney’s fees and costs incurred during litigation.
Representing LaCortney Kimber is Attorney Antonio L. Jeffrey from Jeffrey Law Office LLC based in Warrenville, Illinois. The case has been assigned Case No. 24-cv-12809 but does not list a specific judge presiding over it at this time.
