DLA Piper receives two Turnaround Awards from the M&A Advisor

DLA Piper is pleased to announce that the firm will be recognized with a Healthcare/Life Sciences Deal of the Year award and Real Estate Deal of the Year award from the M&A Advisor on March 25 as part of the 19th Annual Turnaround Awards.

DLA Piper received a Healthcare/Life Sciences Deal of the Year award for its role in the restructuring of Rite Aid Corporation, in which it represented MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc., a pharmacy benefit manager, in executing a stalking horse purchase agreement for substantially all of the assets of Elixir Solutions, a pharmacy benefit management company owned by Rite Aid. The DLA Piper team was led by Rick Chesley, the firm’s Global Managing Partner, and also included partners Scott Layfield (Los Angeles), David Clark (San Diego), Jeffrey Torosian (Chicago), David Kopans (Washington, DC), Richard Bull (San Diego), Melesa Freerks (Chicago) and Anthony Taranto (San Diego), and associates Matthew Sarna (Wilmington) and Virginia Callahan (Baltimore).

The firm was recognized with the Real Estate Deal of the Year award for its representation of Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (now PREIT Realty) and its direct and indirect subsidiaries (PREIT) in the company’s financial and corporate restructuring. The transaction was led by DLA Piper partners Oksana Koltko Rosaluk and Rick Chesley. The financing team was led by Shmuel Klahr (New York) and Kira Mineroff (Short Hills), the real estate team was led by Stacy Osmond (Chicago) and included REIT tax partner Shiukay Hung (New York). Corporate guidance was provided by Christopher Paci (New York) and Christina Houston (Wilmington), and Witek Jurewicz (New York) provided tax advice.
