Polsinelli is pleased to announce that The M&A Advisor has recognized the firm as a winner in two categories of the 19th annual Turnaround Awards. The firm was honored with the “Divestiture of the Year” (under $100M) and the “Restructuring of the Year” ($50M to $100M) awards.
Polsinelli represented University of Iowa Health Care in its acquisition of Mercy Iowa City Hospital, earning the firm the “Restructuring of the Year” ($50M to $100M) recognition. As part of the acquisition, approximately 1,000 former Mercy Iowa City providers and team members joined University of Iowa Health Care, preserving local access to health care and jobs in eastern Iowa. Shareholders Linas J. Grikis, Cullin B. Hughes and David E. Gordon led the Polsinelli deal team in this transaction.
The “Divestiture of the Year” (under $100M) recognition was awarded to Polsinelli for the firm’s representation of Lumen Technologies in a bankruptcy litigation matter in connection with enforcing an arbitration award against Lumen’s partner in a telecom joint venture in the partner's chapter 11 case. This matter was led by Shareholders Jerry L. Switzer, Jr., Nathan Grzegorek and Russell S. Jones, Jr. Polsinelli’s co-counsel in the matter was Phillip S. Sykes and others with Butler Snow LLP.
The Turnaround Awards are determined through peer review and recognize firms and individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of distressed investing and restructuring.
