UB Greensfelder LLP (UBG) announces the addition of a Commercial Contracts practice, led by Partner Lauren L. Wolf. The practice, dedicated to drafting, negotiating, and reviewing a comprehensive range of commercial contracts, significantly expands UBG’s existing capabilities. Based in the firm’s relaunched Chicago office, Wolf was previously co-founder and managing member of Sullivan Wolf Kailus LLC (SWK), a Chicago-based boutique firm.
“Over several years, as I considered how best to expand SWK’s successful commercial contracts practice, Greensfelder consistently stood out,” said Wolf. “With the firm’s recent strategic growth through the merger with Ulmer & Berne, particularly in Chicago, I felt UBG had the foundation we needed to elevate our practice. The firm’s deep bench of talent and breadth of services will greatly benefit our clients. I’m looking forward to further developing UBG’s Commercial Contracts practice and delivering our services firmwide.”
Kevin T. McLaughlin, Co-Managing Partner, commented, “One of the many benefits of our 2024 merger is the attention we are getting from high-caliber lateral attorneys who are looking for the collaborative culture and the comprehensive platform we now offer. Lauren and her practice are a prime example of that talent, and we are pleased to have them join our team in Chicago and expand the firm’s corporate contracts capabilities.”
UBG’s Commercial Contracts practice includes Counsel Matthew Wheeler, who joins Wolf from SWK. The practice manages a wide range of complex corporate client agreements, including non-disclosure agreements, non-reliance letters, vendor contracts, and master service agreements. They serve a diverse clientele, including private equity and hedge funds as well as other corporate clients.
Both Wolf and Wheeler have extensive backgrounds in securities law and fund formation. Before co-founding SWK in 2012, Wolf was with Sidley Austin LLP, where she spent five years providing advisory services to large investment banks and hedge fund managers. Prior to joining SWK, Wheeler practiced in corporate and finance law with several global law firms and has experience as in-house counsel.
Scott P. Kadish, Co-Managing Partner, added, “Lauren brings a robust practice in corporate contracts that will greatly enhance the services we can offer our clients across the firm. The team’s solid background and expertise boost the firm’s bench strength in the Business Law group, particularly in the Chicago market, where we see so much opportunity for growth.”
UBG’s Chicago office recently underwent a renovation and lease extension at 200 West Madison Street in the Loop to consolidate the two existing Chicago offices as part of the firm’s 2024 merger. In February, UBG celebrated the one-year anniversary of the transformative combination, which united two growth-focused firms into an Am Law 200-sized legal powerhouse. The combined firm now offers an expanded platform of service offerings and geographic synergies throughout the Midwest and in top-tier business centers, such as Chicago, St. Louis, Cleveland, and New York.
